Swings and roundabouts
So … Brexit
Aaaaand Talks are still continuing.
Nothing to see here folks except the council elections in England and Northern Ireland.
At the time of writing this – 7.20 – labour and Tory votes have tanked. Lib Dem, greens and independents are having a remarkable night.
Even on places where labour and Tories have won the seats they have lost huge swathes of votes. In Barnsley for example Labour held the council but their vote share fell by 18%. In Spading the Tories saw their vote tumble by over 30% but they still took the seat.
The Libdems are seeing increases of 60%+ in some places.
Other places have seen successes for UKIP and some other right wing parties. Hartlepool for example has elected a “for britain” councillor – For Britain is a right wing anti Islam party!
Some councils have not been able to afford to run elections at all. Yep! That’s right. Sorry – no vote for you we can’t afford it.
It will be interesting to see what things look like at the end of the day.
Meanwhile in Scotland …..
Ruth Davidson is planning to say in her conference speech that the Tories can beat the SNP at Holyrood.
Wonder if it’s on the telly?
